Electrophoresis
In this experiment, students are taught the process of DNA separation via gel electrophoresis. This is an important and commonly used technique in genetic research. Students will use pipettes to load small volumes of DNA and dye into the gel and then watch as they migrate according to size through the apparatus. This activity is paired up with the pipetting activity and is recommended for grades 9-12.
