Glowing Mus. Musculus (Mice)
Mice are an important component of many research studies. The scihigh program has access to mice that have been transgenically modified to include a gene called GFP resulting in mice that glow in the dark. We will bring these mice in to your class and provide a discussion on genetics, the use of transgenics in research, and the ethics of animal use in research. This is our most popular demonstration and pairs well with our other animal models (flies and worms).
